Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia assessed the fighting skills of former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who signed with the PFL league.
Tim Sylvia
I don’t think Francis is that good. “e’s a monster with heavy hands but his punches come from his hips and he swings wild and crazy. He hits you, you’re going to sleep but a technical fighter like [Jon] Jones and Stipe, they beat him again. I’d destroy him in my prime. If we fought right now he beats me but in my prime, if we could go back in time and I’m in my prime, he’s in his prime, I destroy him. He’s too wild. I was more of a technical striker than he is.
Sylvia, 47, last stepped into the cage in a fight against Ruslan Magomedov in October 2013 at Fight Nights - Battle of Moscow 13. In that encounter, Tim was defeated by a unanimous decision of the judges. He has 31 wins and 10 losses under his belt.
Ngannou, 36, had his last fight against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 in January 2022. Francis won that fight by unanimous decision.
Ngannou made his MMA debut against Rachid Benzina in November 2013 under the 100% Fight Promotions. Francis won that fight by first round submission. He has 17 wins and three losses under his belt.
