Former UFC champion in the women's strawweight division, American Rose Namajunas, after defeating Brazilian Amanda Ribas, stated that she is ready for a title fight in the women's flyweight division.
Namajunas shared during a press conference:
I felt actually pretty good [in the new division]. I think I wasn’t as quick as I wanted, as snappy as I wanted to be… but I also could feel my strength was great. I was happy to instead of being the champ and just jumping straight into a superfight – champ vs. champ – I do think it’s kind of cool to just work your way up and do it that way. But at the same time, if they want to give me (a title shot), I’ll take it.
Namajunas and Ribas faced off in the octagon at UFC Vegas 89, held on March 24 in Las Vegas, USA. In this bout, which went the distance, Rose secured a unanimous decision victory.
Ribas holds 12 wins and five losses in mixed martial arts, while Namajunas has 12 victories and six defeats on her record.
