Former UFC middleweight division champion American fighter Chris Weidman has acknowledged that he poked Bruno Silva in the eye with his finger shortly before the stoppage of their fight.
Chris Weidman
You can’t just drop every time you feel like something is touching your eyeball. He poked me in the eye bad one time and I stood there, took it. Unless the ref’s going to say something, I don’t drop. I come from a wrestling background. It’s a similar thing, you can't look to the ref for things, they're not going to help you.
Recall, on the night of March 31 at UFC on ESPN 54, Weidman defeated Silva by technical knockout in the third round. Later the result of the fight was changed to the victory of Chris by unanimous decision.
Weidman had his previous fight in August 2023 at UFC 292, losing to Brad Tavares by unanimous decision. He has 16 wins and seven losses on his record.
