Former coach of Arman Tsarukyan, Sergey Torosyan, shared his insights on the victory of UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili over Umar Nurmagomedov in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net.
Sergey Torosyan
Before the fight, I mentioned that Dvalishvili would win this very close match through pressure. I might have some understanding of mixed martial arts, and if it had been a three-round fight, Umar would have had a better chance of winning. He took two rounds in this match, and Dvalishvili would never have finished Nurmagomedov. The fight should have been decided by the judges. I believed that starting from the third round, Merab would speed things up and Umar wouldn’t be able to keep up. I knew it. Nurmagomedov will bounce back and will get the title in this weight class, that’s for sure. He will definitely do it but not against Dvalishvili.
Recall that the match between Merab Dvalishvili and Umar Nurmagomedov lasted all five rounds, with judges awarding the victory to the Georgian athlete. Dvalishvili successfully defended his UFC championship title for the first time, while Nurmagomedov suffered the first loss of his professional career.
