PFL heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira has made a statement regarding his comments about former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
MMAJunkie quotes Ferreira as saying:
Earlier, Ferreira claimed that he would be the biggest challenge in Ngannou’s life this year, after the Cameroonian lost his one-and-a-half-year-old son earlier. This remark drew criticism from MMA fans.
Everything I said was about Francis Ngannou’s year, you get me. He’s coming off two losses in boxing, two year layoff (in MMA), at no point did I want to talk about his personal life and everything that went down with his son. That wasn’t my intention. That’s not me, it’s not in my character.
It’s worth noting that the fight between Ngannou and Ferreira is scheduled for October 19.
Ferreira last stepped into the cage against Ryan Bader in February of this year, where the bout was stopped in the first round and ended in Ferreira's favor by technical knockout. Ferreira boasts a record of 13 wins and three losses, with three of his fights being declared no contests.
