Brazilian heavyweight Renan Ferreira has commented on his defeat to Cameroonian fighter Francis Ngannou at the PFL: Battle of the Giants tournament, which took place on the night of October 20 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Ngannou claimed victory over Ferreira by knockout in the first round, earning the special PFL Superfight title belt.
Ferreira said in a video posted on social media:
Unfortunately, my opponent was superior. He managed to impose a game where that I couldn’t defend the takedowns, which led to very hard ground-and-pound to get through. And that’s it, life goes on, we’ll be back. I want to thank everyone for all the love and support, we’re always together. Hugs.
Ferreira last fought in February 2024 at a joint PFL and Bellator event, where he defeated Ryan Bader by technical knockout in the first round. His record now stands at 13 wins and 4 losses, with three bouts ruled no contests.
Ngannou last competed in January 2022 at UFC 270, where he won against Ciryl Gane by unanimous decision. His record includes 18 wins and 3 losses.
