Eddie Alvarez Believes UFC Won't Let McGregor Go Easily

Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez believes that the promotion won't easily let former two-weight champion Conor McGregor go.

Eddie Alvarez, quoted by MMA Fighting
Realistically, I think he still has two fights left on his UFC contract. I just know how difficult it is, especially when you’re that valuable to a company. I haven’t been as valuable as Conor, but back when I was basically Bellator’s main guy, I know how difficult it is to get out of those contracts. They don’t make it easy.

McGregor last fought against American Dustin Poirier in July 2021 at UFC 264. In that bout, Conor suffered a technical knockout due to a broken leg. His MMA record stands at 22 wins and six losses.

Alvarez last fought against Mike Perry in December 2023 at BKFC 56. Eddie lost that match by technical knockout in the second round. His MMA record includes 30 wins and eight losses, with two of his fights deemed no contests.
