Former UFC bantamweight champion American T.J. Dillashaw has decided to end his fighting career after shoulder surgery, according to insider Ariel Helwani on Twitter.

T.J. Dillashaw has made the decision to retire. The UFC was notified about a week and a half ago.
It was previously reported that Dillashaw would miss the year due to a shoulder injury sustained in a bout against Aljamain Sterling for the lightweight title. The fight took place Oct. 22 in Abu Dhabi in the co-main event of UFC 280. The fight was stopped at 3:44 of the second round, the referee recorded T.J.'s defeat by TKO.
In July 2021, Dillashaw fought his compatriot Cory Sandhagen. Dillashaw won that fight by split decision. He has 17 wins and five losses in MMA.
