UFC President Dana White has responded to a question about a potential rematch between Australian Israel Adesanya of Nigerian descent and American fighter Sean Strickland.
To recap, Strickland defeated Adesanya by unanimous decision on September 10 at UFC 293 in Sydney, Australia, to become the promotion's new middleweight champion.
Dana White said:
I think you do the rematch, absolutely. The rematch is interesting. When you think about you’re going into the [Alex] Pereira fight, such a big fight, and you’ve been in there with this guy so many times, and then you overlook Strickland. I don’t know the answers to these questions, but Israel does, and I’m looking forward to hearing it.
Adesanya, 34, had his previous fight in April 2023 at UFC 287, defeating Alex Pereira by knockout in the second round. He has 24 wins and three losses under his belt.
Strickland, 32, previously stepped into the octagon in July 2023 at UFC on ESPN 48, defeating Abusupiyan Magomedov by TKO in the second round. He has 28 wins and five losses on his record.
