Dan Hooker Thinks Fight with Gaethje Will Be Five Rounds Because “UFC Wants to See Someone Die”

Top UFC lightweight Dan Hooker from New Zealand addressed the reason why his upcoming fight against American Justin Gaethje will last for five rounds. This matchup will co-headline UFC 313, taking place on March 9 in Las Vegas, USA.

Dan Hooker in an interview with Ariel Helwani
I just think the UFC wants to see someone die. I think they want a finish. They want this fight, as well, I feel like for the fans, as well, they want to see someone go down. They want to see blood. They want to see rounds four and five... I'm happy to oblige for money.

Hooker last fought in August 2024 at UFC 305, defeating Mateusz Gamrot by split decision. His professional record includes 24 wins and 12 losses.

Gaethje's last appearance in the octagon was in April 2024 at UFC 300, where he lost to Max Holloway by knockout in the fifth round. He holds a record of 25 wins and five losses.
