California State Athletic Commission head Andy Foster announced that the court has authorized former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez to corner Bellator lightweight division champion Usman Nurmagomedov in his fight against Brent Primus.
In a text sent to MMA Fighting, Foster wrote:
He is scheduled to corner. We are in possession of a court order permitting him to do so.
Recall, Velasquez was arrested in February 2022 on several felony charges, including attempted murder. Cain allegedly chased and shot a man accused of molesting the fighter's 4-year-old son. Velasquez was released from custody on November 9 after posting one million dollars bail.
The fight between Nurmagomedov and Primus will take place on the night of October 8 in San Diego (USA) at the Bellator 300 tournament.
