UFC middleweight division number six ranked Brazilian Paulo Costa said on social media that he underwent surgery before his fight with Chechen fighter Khamzat Chimaev:
How strong are u? U never really know until you get tested by fire of life. I did surgery 3 weeks ago , 10 seams size . But I know how tough I'm and continues improving and overcoming myself. It doesn't stop me, still still doing my things sparrings and everything.
Recall, the fight between Costa and Chimaev will take place on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
Costa last went into the octagon against Luke Rockhold in August 2022 at UFC 278. That fight ended in Paulo's favor by unanimous decision of the judges. He has 14 wins and two losses on his record.
Chimaev's last fight was against Kevin Holland in September 2022 at UFC 279. In this confrontation, Khamzat won by first-round choke hold. He has 12 wins and no losses on his record.
