Former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier supported the promotion's interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall in his conflict with Henry Cejudo.
On November 12 at UFC 295, Aspinall defeated Sergei Pavlovich by first-round knockout and then placed the championship belt on his father's shoulders and cried. Cejudo advised Tom to save his tears for when he wins a 'real' championship title.

Henry Cejudo. Man, I like the guy. I do. But this dude has never been more wrong. Henry said, ‘Tom Aspinall shouldn’t have been as emotional to become the champion. It’s not the real belt’. It’s not fair. Interim or not, they’re wrapping 12 pounds of gold around his belt.
Aspinall, 30, last fought at UFC Fight Night 224 in July 2023, defeating Marcin Tybura by first-round technical knockout. He has 14 wins and three losses on his record.
