Former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier reacted to Dustin Poirier's words before the fight against the promotion's lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. Earlier Puryear said that he could end his career immediately after the fight with Makhachev.
Recall that the title fight between Makhachev and Poirier will headline UFC 302, which will take place on the night of 2 June in Newark (USA).
Cormier stated on his YouTube channel:
I hate it for the idea that it could be almost over, and he recognises that. It's like, if you have any desire to fight, you have to be so in the fight that there is no thought of what comes next.I don't love that. Cormier stated on his YouTube channel.
Makhachev last fought Alexander Volkanovski in October 2023 at UFC 294. In that fight, Islam won by knockout in the first round. He has 25 wins and one loss on his record.
Poirier last stepped into the octagon against Benoit Saint-Denis in March of this year at UFC 299. That fight ended in Dustin's favor by knockout in the second round. He has 30 wins and eight losses on his record.
