Afghan MMA fighter Ahmad Hassanzada has been arrested in Sacramento, California, on charges of sex acts with a minor. He faces two counts of lewd acts against a child under 14, as reported by Ag. Fight.
Hassanzada is currently being held in Sacramento County Jail on a $400,000 bail. His hearing is scheduled for the morning of April 22.
The 28-year-old was set to make his UFC debut against Evan Elder on April 27 in Kansas City, but the fight has been canceled due to his arrest. Elder will instead face another UFC newcomer Gauge Young. UFC representatives later announced that Ahmad is no longer a fighter for the promotion.
Hassanzada previously claimed victory over Dylan Mantello by technical knockout in the third round during Dana White's Contender Series (DWCS) in September 2024, earning a contract with the UFC. His mixed martial arts record includes 11 wins and 3 losses.
