A fight between Swedish UFC welterweight Khamzat Chimaev and American Colby Covington could take place early next year.
"Khamzat can fight against Covington in early 2023," Chimaev's team said.
Chimaev, 28, last entered the Octagon in September 2022 at UFC 279, defeating Kevin Holland by submission (D'Arce choke) in the first round. He has 12 wins and no losses under his belt.
Covington, 34, defeated Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision at UFC 272 in March 2022. He has 17 wins and three losses to his credit.
