American UFC fighter Michael Chandler has shared his thoughts on his upcoming rematch with Brazilian athlete Charles Oliveira. Chandler is set to step into the octagon with Oliveira again on November 17 at UFC 306 in New York.
Chandler said on his YouTube channel:
I took a quick little detour to chase this McGregor fight… now I get the opportunity to take a title run. If I beat Charles Oliveira, I become the #1 contender.
The first encounter between Chandler and Oliveira took place in May 2021 at UFC 262, where Oliveira won via technical knockout in the second round.
Chandler had his latest fight against Dustin Poirier in November 2022 at UFC 281. In this fight, which was stopped in the third round, Michael was defeated by a choke hold. He has 23 wins and eight losses on his record.
Oliveira last entered the octagon against Arman Tsarukyan in April this year at the UFC 300 tournament. This fight lasted the entire distance and ended with Charles's defeat by a split decision. Oliveira has 34 wins and 10 losses, and one fight declared a no contest.
