Former UFC fighter Donald Cerrone admitted that he started using steroids. According to the fighter, the drug has returned him to his young athletic form.
Donald Cerrone in an interview with Brendan Schaub
Just yesterday I was in Vegas telling everyone that I finally understood why steroids are illegal in MMA. Now when I use them, I feel like I'm 20 years old again, damn it. Hell, training doesn't ever stop. You can work out as hard as you can and wake up the next morning refreshed and rested. Recovery is the best of improvements. It's the fountain of youth.
As a reminder, the UFC began working with USADA in 2015 to gain legal sport status. Since then, fighters of the promotion are regularly tested by the organization's employees for the banned drugs in their blood: before and after fights, as well as during the off-season.
Donald Cerrone, 39, had his last fight on the night of July 3 at UFC 276, losing to Jim Miller by submission (guillotine choke) in the second round. In May 2021, at UFC on ESPN 24, he lost to Alex Morono by TKO in the first round. Cerrone has 36 wins and 17 losses under his belt, with two more fights declared a failure.
