Cameroonian lawyer and politician Christian Ntimbane Bomo believes that former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, whose actions led to the death of a 17-year-old girl, should be arrested.
Reports revealed that Ngannou hit Ntsama Bridget Manuella with his motorcycle. Despite Ngannou taking her to the hospital where she underwent emergency surgery, she passed away a few days later.
“Regarding the accident involving Ngannou that led to the young girl’s death from her injuries days later in the hospital, a criminal investigation must be initiated to determine who is responsible.
We need to establish whether Ngannou made a misjudgment as a driver, such as speeding or running a red light, or if there was negligence on the part of the victim," said the lawyer.
Mr. Francis Ngannou should be arrested and presented to the prosecutor as a suspect. Letting him bypass this process due to his global celebrity status or because he offered care to the victim is double standards.
"Clearly, he is not guilty of the facts he has been accused of so far. He currently enjoys all the advantages of the presumption of innocence, but that does not imply he is innocent.
The goal of such a legal approach is to ensure equal and fair application of criminal procedural norms for everyone.
This is what we call a just society, where all citizens are equal before the law,” Bomo stated, as reported by Le Bled Parle.
Ngannou last fought in October 2024 at the PFL Super Fights - Battle of the Giants, winning by knockout in the first round against Renan Ferreira. His record is now 18 wins and three losses.
