Brazilian UFC bantamweight division fighter Mayra Bueno Silva has been officially penalized by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) after failing a doping test.
A urine sample taken prior to her fight with Holly Holm tested positive for a certain banned substance. Silva received disciplinary action at the monthly NAC meeting: a 4.5-month suspension, a fine of $11,250, which equates to 15 percent of her fight fee, and court costs totaling $314. Moreover, the result of the fight between Silva and Holm was changed to "no contest".
Recall, the fight between Silva and Holm, held in July 2023 at the tournament UFC on ESPN 49, ended with a victory of the Brazilian athlete with a choking submission in the second round. Silva, 32, has ten wins, two losses and one draw on her record.
