Bisping: There Need to Be Stricter Penalties for Eye Pokes

Former UFC champion and current commentator Michael Bisping has shared his thoughts on accidental eye pokes during fights.

Recall that in the main event of UFC Fight Night 252 on February 23, a bantamweight bout took place between Henry Cejudo and Song Yadong. The fight ended in a technical decision in favor of the Chinese fighter, who had previously poked Cejudo in the eye.

Michael Bisping
No. 1, I think we should have had a point deducted. I have a lot of respect for (Song’s) whole team, but the eye pokes are terrible. If you start taking points, people will stop stretching their f***ing fingers out. Something needs to be done. Stricter penalties need to be in place. There needs to be immediate consequences for people poking fighters in the eye.

Yadong has a record of 22 wins, eight losses, and one draw in mixed martial arts, with one additional bout declared a no contest. Cejudo holds a record of 16 wins and five losses.
