UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping believes the promotion should strip Jon Jones of his heavyweight title if he refuses to fight Tom Aspinall.
Bloody Elbow quotes Bisping as saying:
If he doesn’t, this is – in the words of Khabib Nurmagomedov – Number One Bull****… If he refuses to fight Tom Aspinall next, then we’ve got to start having a serious conversation as to whether or not this man should be stripped. What I’m saying sounds crazy and I’m not saying this as a Jon Jones hater but if this was boxing, then Jon Jones would be stripped [of his title] and that’s a fact.
Jones last fought against Ciryl Gane in March 2023 at UFC 285. In that fight, which ended in the first round, Jon secured a victory by submission and claimed the UFC heavyweight championship belt. His professional record stands at 27 wins and one loss.
Aspinall last stepped into the octagon against Curtis Blaydes in July this year at UFC 304. That fight, which was stopped in the first round, ended with a knockout in favor of Tom. He holds a record of 15 victories and three defeats.
