UFC commentator Jon Anik shared his thoughts on the outcome of the fight between Diego Lopes and Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 314 in Miami, USA.
Jon Anik for MMA Fighting
The biggest punch of the fight was landed in Round 4, and I would say respectfully, shame on Diego Lopes for not following up. But [Volkanovski] did land twice as many strikes in Round 4, and I guess now I can understand why [judge Sal d’Amato] would score that round for [Diego]. If you land the biggest strike of the fight and you come somewhat close to maybe putting the guy away, is that not your round?
Recall that on the morning of April 13, in Miami, Volkanovski won the fight against Lopes by unanimous decision, reclaiming his featherweight championship belt.
Volkanovski's record in mixed martial arts now stands at 27 wins and four losses, while Lopes has a record of 26 wins and seven losses.
Volkanovski made his UFC debut in November 2016 against Japan's Yusuke Kasuya. Alexander won that match by technical knockout in the second round.
