Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez has addressed his fellow American Dustin Poirier with the proposal to settle their rivalry in a bare-knuckle fight.
Alvarez said, as reported by Home of Fight:
Eddie Alvarez
Me and Dustin have sort of got a little bit of a back-and-forth. I got him once, he got me once. It'd be nice to finish that out, with no gloves.
Alvarez and Poirier have met in the octagon twice. Their first encounter in May 2017 was ruled a no-contest due to a banned knee strike.
The second fight took place in January 2018 at UFC on Fox 20, where Eddie won by technical knockout in the second round. Poirier’s record stands at 30 wins and nine losses, with one bout ruled a no-contest. Alvarez has 30 wins and eight losses, also with two of his fights ruled no-contests.
