Alekseeva: Dvalishvili Will Be the Favorite Against Nurmagomedov, Merab is on Another Level

Russian UFC fighter Irina Alekseeva shared her thoughts in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net regarding the potential matchup between Merab Dvalishvili and Umar Nurmagomedov.

"I believe that in the fight between Merab and Umar, the champion will be the favorite. No matter what, Merab has had a much tougher and more challenging journey to this title – more difficult psychologically, in terms of opposition, and even in terms of his relationship with the organization. I think Merab is on another level. However, Umar can certainly surprise everyone, but I think he isn’t that experienced yet. Anything can happen, considering Nurmagomedov's team is only gaining momentum. I would give about a 70% chance for Dvalishvili to win,” said Alekseeva.

Merab has outstanding stamina and grappling skills. His striking may not be on the same level as those with a boxing base, but he has strengths that he turns into a huge advantage. Even though he might not match his opponents in striking technique, he has great resilience. His head is like iron; he gets hit but always knows how to endure. So I’m picking Merab in the fight against Umar.

Recall that on September 15, Merab Dvalishvili defeated Sean O'Malley by unanimous decision at the UFC 306 tournament and became the new champion of the organization in the bantamweight division.

The undefeated Russian Umar Nurmagomedov may become the next opponent of the Georgian fighter.

Dvalishvili, 33, has 18 wins and four defeats, Nurmagomedov, 28, has 18 wins and no defeats.
