Eugene Bareman, coach of former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, said they have asked the promotion's management to arrange a rematch with Sean Strickland next week:
I asked Mick if we could have the rematch next weekend. Whether he grants it I’m not sure, but I’m just very confident that we can change the outcome of this fight with very minor adjustments. I think we can do the rematch tomorrow and I think we can have a good night.
Recall, on September 10 at UFC 293, Strickland defeated Adesanya by unanimous decision of judges and became the new UFC middleweight champion.
Adesanya, 34, had his previous fight in April 2023 at UFC 287, defeating Alex Pereira by knockout in the second round. He has 24 wins and three losses on his record.
