For now, Israel has put his mixed martial arts career on hold, saying he will return to the octagon in 2027.
Adesanya last fought against Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC 293. That fight lasted the entire distance and ended in a unanimous decision defeat for Israel. Thus, the New Zealander was once again deprived of the championship title. He has 24 wins and three losses.
