The England-India test match kept test match fans at their heels as India mustered up a lead of 154 courtesy of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkaya Rahane. England got a dream start as they pulled off three wickets with India’s lead at just 29. However, then Pujara and Rahane anchored the Indian innings putting up an impressive 100 runs partnership for the fourth wicket.
Mark Wood took the lead for the English as he came up with a double-strike of Rohit and Rahul when the score read 27. Afterwards, Sam Curran snaffled the wicket of a little out-of-form Kohli who slammed some boundaries before nicking one to Buttler. Then Pujara and Rahane cemented their feet and took around 290 balls to form a formidable partnership denying English bowlers a chance to demolish the batting. However, India couldn’t get full control of the match as Mark Wood once again extracted a wicket sending Pujara to the pavilion. Afterwards, Moeen Ali bowled beautifully, using the rip and turn available on the pitch and got rid of the dangerous Rahane and then he also clean bowled Jadeja to get England’s grip back on the game. Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma remained unbeaten as the last half-an-hour of the game got called off due to bad light. India finished at 181/6 and now has a 154 runs lead heading into the final day’s play with the pendulum swinging here and there yet again.
