Kremlin Cup WTA Quarterfinals Schedule

A power-packed Quartfinals schedule is brewing in the Kremlin Cup and a lot of superstar talent will open its wings during the day. With four games on display, the excitement is only going to skyrocket.

In the first game of the day, Czechia’s Marketa Vondrousova will battle Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, as the latter will have the home crowd behind her. Marketa comes into the battle after a 6-3. 6-3 win over Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko. Meanwhile, Anastasia beat USA’s Bernarda Pera 6-2, 7-5 in the last round.

For the second match-up, number-one seeded Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka tussles it out versus Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, who is sure to have a lot of fan support, playing at home. Sabalenka eked out a grinding 7-6, 4-6, 6-1 win over Australian Ajla Tomljanovic in the previous, while Ekaterina brushed aside Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina 6-2, 6-3.

In the third match of the day, Estonian Anett Kontaveit will face the second-seeded Spanish Garbine Muguruza. In the last round, Anett beat German Andrea Petkovic 6-1, 6-4, and Garbine had to fight a tough battle versus Czechia’s Tereza Martincova, winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

To sum up the day, Greek Maria Sakkari will face off in a heavy tussle versus Romanian Simona Halep. Power-player Sakkari got a walkover win versus Russian Anna Kalinskaya after being up 6-2, 1-0. Meanwhile, Simona had to overcome Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova 6-1, 7-6 to reach the Quarterfinals.
