Maria Sakkari and Anett Kontaveit advanced their WTA Kremlin Cup campaigns in the most comfortable fashion.
Greece’s Maria Sakkari got a walkover win after Anna Kalinskaya conceded a walkover due to an injury. However, Maria would have most probably won in a full mutch anyway, as she had a 6-2, 1-0 lead over the Russian.
Meanwhile, Estonian Anett Kontaveit showed her A-game versus Germany’s Andrea Petkovic. She beat Andrea 6-1, 6-4, and backed her ninth-seeded status. Kontaveit used the power generated by her strong arms and gained a 37-25 points advantage in service points while bagging a 21-18 points receiving points. The win has now set up a Quarter-Finals battle with Garbine Muguruza, expect a tough battle there.
