Usain Bolt ruled out returning to major athletics events and said that he is past professional sprinting. Bolt stated that he does have the itch to return but his coach persuaded him to avoid a comeback. He said the following when asked about his comeback: “So if it's not my coach, I'm not going to do it, because I believe in him and if he says no, it's no - but I've got that itch though”.
Usain Bolt also showered praise on Jamaican athletes Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser for winning the gold and silver medal in the 100m event during the Tokyo Olympics. He had the following to say: “Elaine's technique has really improved and the same with Shelly-Ann. She runs much more upright and her fluency looks way better. So I think these girls are going to be knocking on the door.”
