10:00 AM UTC: Scotland vs New Zealand, Group 2, Super 12s, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup
In the first of the double-header, Scotland will meet New Zealand in what will be both teams’ third match of the Super 12s. Scotland has lost both of its previous encounters while New Zealand comes into the game after a dominating win versus India.
Can Scotland give the Kiwis a fight?
There is no doubt that there is an immense gap between the experience and talent of Scotland and New Zealand. New Zealand is one of the contenders to win it all while Scotland is not even slated to win a single game in the Super 12s. The pace attack of Trent Boult, Tim Southee, and Adam Milne combined with the spin bowling of Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner can be too much for a team that has scored just 60 and 110 in the previous games.
New Zealand will aim for a higher Net run rate
New Zealand lost the first game to Pakistan but bounced back in dominating fashion versus India. The team’s aim will be to gather a huge win here so the squad can bank on a higher run rate. Martin Guptill, Devon Conway, and Daryll Mitchell are all capable six hitters, and with a strong bowling unit the team can even register a 70+ runs win or a 9/10 wickets win. It is clear New Zealand has an overwhelming advantage here.
