Asalanka highlights complete batting performance
Sri Lankan batting took Windies to task and hoarded runs after runs. After a 42-runs opening partnership in 32 balls, Charith Asalanka’s arrival to the crease paved way for more quick-fire scoring. Captain Dasun Shanaka finally showed his power-hitting and ended up with 25 runs off 14 balls.
Gayle, Lewis misfire again, Hetmyer and Pooran fight
Gayle went cheaply again, playing a lazy shot for yet another game. Meanwhile, Lewis cracked two boundaries in a row but fell soon after. Roston Chase only made 9 runs but Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer put on a show. Pooran made 46 runs in 34 balls while Hetmyer compiled 81 in 54 balls.
Apart from these two, the rest of the batting continued the template of the tournament and fell in single figures. For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga ended his impressive campaign with two wickets for 19 runs in four overs while Maheesh Theekshana continued to be tight, spending just 21 runs in four overs.
