I spent several years thinking I was going crazy: Carl Hayman

Former New Zealand Rugby Player Carl Hayman has revealed that he is undergoing early dementia and has joined the legal action against World Rugby and other Rugby Associations for ignoring the known problem and not being able to take necessary measures. Hayman said that he wishes that younger players don’t have to undergo such a severe situation and receive more care than he did during his playing days.

I spent several years thinking I was going crazy. It was the constant headaches and all these things going on that I couldn't understand. Hope that the players of the future don't fall into the same trap that I did, that they're not treated like an object and are looked after better. These younger aspiring players need to know what they're getting into and there needs to be more support and better monitoring around head injuries and workloads.
