The National Hockey League (NHL) has fined the Dallas Stars $100,000 for holding practice during the Christmas break, as reported on the league's official website.
According to the collective bargaining agreement, December 24, 25, and 26 are designated as days off, during which teams cannot make players participate in practice sessions.
Dallas' head coach Peter DeBoer claimed that the sessions were organized at the players' request. The fined amount will be directed to a special NHL fund.
Currently, Dallas sit in seventh place in the Western Conference standings with 43 points. In their latest match on December 30, the Stars defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-1.
