According to the National Hockey League (NHL) press service, the Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar has become the first player in his position in 16 years to score 30 or more goals in a single season.
In a recent regular-season game against Columbus, which ended with a score of 7-3, Makar scored one goal and provided two assists. He now has 30 goals and 60 assists in the current regular season.
The last defenseman to achieve such a feat was Mike Green, who scored 31 goals in the 2008/2009 season. Makar has also become the fifth defenseman in league history to record 30 goals and 60 assists in one season.
