Ovechkin is a top Russian hockey player. He has had a remarkable career, and there is another great season ahead of him. I hope he can break Gretzky's record. We'll see how he plays this year. For now, I just wish him good health.
Wayne Gretzky, former Canadian forward, scored a total of 894 goals during his career. Currently, Ovechkin has 853 goals. His contract with the Washington Capitals runs until the summer of 2026.
Last season, the 39-year-old Ovechkin recorded 65 points (31 goals and 34 assists) in 79 regular season games, finishing with a plus/minus rating of -22. In the playoffs, he did not register any points over four games, ending with a -2 rating as the Capitals were eliminated in the first round by the New York Rangers (0-4 in the series).
