The match for the third place at the Ice Hockey World Championship between Latvia and the USA took place on May 28.
The team led by Harijs Vītoliņš won in overtime with a score of 4-3. Roberts Bukarts, Janis Jaks and Kristian Rubins (double) scored the goals for Latvia. Rocco Grimaldi (double) and Matt Coronato scored for the Americans.
This is the first medal ever won by the national team of Latvia.
