Canada Hockey Team Loses with Crosby for the First Time Since 2010

The Canadian hockey team has suffered its first official match loss in 15 years with Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby on the ice.

On February 16, Jon Cooper's squad lost to the USA team with a score of 1-3 in the second round of the 2025 Four Nations Tournament taking place in Montreal and Boston. The 37-year-old "Sid the Kid" played just over 19 minutes, failing to contribute any goals or assists and finishing with a minus-two rating.

It’s worth noting that Canada’s winning streak with the veteran in the lineup had reached 26 games since 2010. The last time Crosby's national team lost was on February 21, 2010, during the group stage of the Olympic tournament in Vancouver against Team USA (2-3 OT).

In the 2025 Four Nations Face-Off standings, Canada holds the second position with two points. The USA leads with six points and has already become the first finalist of the tournament.

On November 11, 2024, Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin shared with The Hockey News that Crosby's status as one of the best players in the NHL is certainly evident.
