Akane Yamaguchi triumphed over Japanese compatriot Sayaka Takahashi to claim the French Open title. After a hard-fought 21-18 first set, Yamaguchi dominated the second set 21-12 to claim the win. This is Akane’s second individual title of the year after she clinched the Thailand Masters winning against An Se-Young.
Akane also defeated An in three sets during the French Open Semis. On other hand, Sayaka reached the Finals after overcoming badminton star PV Sindhu. Sindhu had beaten Yamaguchi during the Quarterfinals in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics this year.
