Yanga Coach Gamondi: We Want to Defend Our Title in Tanzania and Do Well in the Champions League

Playing their fourth game in 12 days, Young Africans (Yanga) head coach Miguel Gamondi says he is impressed with the resilience shown by his players, and has praised their attitude and mentality. The Tanzanian Premier League champions have been competing in the CAF Champions League, and playing catch up in domestic fixtures.

They have progressed to the group stages of the Champions League and are unbeaten after three matches in the league, without conceding a single goal.

The Argentine coach told Telecomasia.net:

I am very satisfied with how they have reacted. Playing that number of games, and tough games like those within a short period of time is not easy. They have shown some really good character. And I am more pleased because we have not just played and won, but played really well.

Yanga is one of the biggest and most supported clubs in Tanzania, and have won the league and cup doubles over the last two seasons. Last season, they reached the final of the CAF Confederation Cup and this season, they have big targets as well.

After his side’s match against KMC in the league, Gamondi further said:

Miguel Gamondi exclusively for Telecom Asia Sport
We are looking at achieving big things. We want to defend our title in Tanzania and do well in the Champions League. The players really want it because we want to create a history for the club and Tanzanian football as well.

They will now take on Pamba Jiji on Thursday, before the league goes for the international break.
