Barcelona and Spanish national team winger Lamine Yamal, 16, shared a story about a photo of him as a child in the arms of former Catalan club striker Lionel Messi.
This picture was taken during an event organized by an international charity foundation that sponsored Barcelona at the time.
Jijantes FC quotes the player as saying:
Obviously, at the moment the photos were taken I wasn't conscious of what was going on at that age. My dad had the photos saved and they never came out, basically because we didn't want the comparisons with Messi.
Recall that Lamine Yamal became the youngest player to score a goal in the history of European and world championships. At Euro 2024 he played in six matches, scoring one goal and making three assists, his team made it to the finals of the tournament.
Earlier, the 16-year-old's father said that Yamal wants to become the youngest European champion in history.
