In the 32nd matchday of the Spanish league Barcelona suffered a 2-3 defeat against Real Madrid. Thus, Barcelona's head coach, Xavi, became the second coach in the club's history to lose to Real Madrid four matches in a row.
This streak came after Xavi's team's defeat in the second leg of the 2022/2023 Spanish Cup semi-final with a score of 0-4, as well as in the Super Cup (1-4), and two La Liga matches (1-2 and 2-3).
Prior to Xavi, the only Barcelona coach to lose to Real Madrid four times in a row was Patrick O'Connell, who managed the team from 1935 to 1940.
Xavi has faced Real Madrid ten times in total, winning four matches and losing six.
Earlier, Xavi announced that he would leave Barcelona at the end of the season. His contract with the club runs until the summer of 2025, and he has repeatedly confirmed that his decision is final and won't change, despite the pleas from the club's fans for him to stay.
