The head coach of Barcelona Xavi Hernandez has decided to waive his compensation for leaving the Catalan club, as reported by the Spanish outlet AS.
According to sources, the Catalan club will save approximately €12 million thanks to the Spanish specialist declining severance pay.
It is noted that Xavi expects the Barcelona management to fully compensate eight members of his coaching staff for their dismissal, totaling close to €3 million.
Earlier this year, Xavi had expressed his intention to leave the Spanish club at the end of the season. However, the leadership of the Catalan club persuaded him to see out his contract, which ends in 2025.
On May 24, Barcelona's management officially announced the dismissal of Xavi from his position as head coach. Xavi had been with the club since 2021. Barcelona accumulated 85 points and finished the current season in second place in the country's championship.
Previously, Xavi had refused to disclose the reasons for his departure from Barcelona and said that he had no choice but to accept this decision.
