Former Barcelona head coach Xavi shared his opinion on the club management's decision to sack him, but refused to give specific reasons for his departure.
The coach noted that his work has not been sufficiently appreciated. Xavi also said that his actions in the past two and a half years always caused strong reactions.
Marca quotes the coach as saying:
It is not for me to say the reasons or the motives. I think it is up to the president to say them. I had no choice but to accept it. It doesn't matter if I agree with the arguments. I'm not leaving with a sense of relief because we wanted to continue.
In the current season, Barcelona took second place in the Spanish La Liga, behind Real Madrid on 10 points. In the Spanish Cup, Xavi's team stopped at the stage of quarter finals, losing to the future winner of the tournament Athletic from Bilbao. In the Champions League, the Catalans also dropped out in the quarterfinals, losing to the French PSG. In the final of the Spanish Super Cup, Barcelona suffered a defeat from Real Madrid with a score of 1:4.
Earlier, Xavi called the Blaugrana the club of his life and thanked the leadership of the Catalans for the work.
