Barcelona head coach Xavi said he was ready for criticism after the team's crushing defeat in the Spanish Super Cup final.
The Blaugrana lost 1-4 to Real Madrid in a match played in Riyadh on Sunday.
Xavi is quoted as saying by Marca:
Xavi
We had a lot of hope going into the final and we've produced our worst performance. It's a moment to say sorry to the supporters and accept the criticism that comes. Apologies to our fans but we’ll bounce back.
Despite the defeat, Barcelona remains the record holder for the number of victories in the Spanish Super Cup - 14 trophies. Real Madrid has 13 victories.
Earlier, the sports director of Barcelona Deco said that the defeat will not affect the future of Xavi in the club. Back in December, the Spanish coach dismissed rumors about his departure from the team.
