Uganda Cranes captain Khalid Aucho says their only mission as they prepare to face South Sudan in Juba is to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The East Africans have seven points from three matches, and a win against South Sudan will see them qualify for the showpiece in Morocco next year.
Speaking to Telecomasia.net ahead of the game, Aucho says the players know the task ahead of them and believes they have prepared well for it.
We came here just for one mission and that mission is to win the game and qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations. South Sudan is a very good team and in Africa, there is no small team. They are disciplined and well organized and we expect a very tough match in Juba, away from home.
Uganda won the first leg in Kampala 1-0 last week and is looking to complete a double over the South Sudanese. The hosts have lost all three matches in the qualifiers, and another defeat will completely drain their qualification dream.
They have an ambition as well and they will come strongly against us. We saw from the first leg that they have real quality and we expect them to be pushed by their fans. However, we have to maintain cool heads and approach the game with a calm mind.
Uganda missed the last two editions of the Cup of Nations and is confident of earning qualification this time around.
