Tottenham's 27-year-old midfielder, Yves Bissouma, has been suspended from the upcoming Premier League match against Leicester City after a video surfaced on social media showing him using nitrous oxide. In the UK, the use of nitrous oxide is illegal and can lead to a prison sentence of up to two years.
English head coach Angelos Postecoglou told the BBC:
He won't be available for Monday. Beyond that, there's some trust building that has to happen between Biss and me and Biss and the group. That's what he needs to work hard at from now on, to win that back. The door is open for him, and hopefully we can help him to realize that the decisions he makes impact more than just him and allow him to make better decisions moving forward.
The match between Tottenham and Leicester will take place on August 19 at 22:00 GMT+3.
Bissouma joined Tottenham from Brighton in July 2022 and has since made 56 appearances for the club, without scoring any goals. The midfielder's contract with Tottenham runs until the end of June 2026.
Previously, Bissouma deleted the video of the gas usage from his social media accounts and issued an apology.
