Midfielder of Real Madrid and the German national team Toni Kroos will retire after the 2024 European Championship. Journalist Florian Plettenberg announced this on his social media page.
Toni Kroos has been playing for Real Madrid since 2014, appearing in 463 matches across all competitions, scoring 28 goals and making 98 assists. He previously played for Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen. It was reported earlier that Real Madrid wanted to extend the midfielder's contract for another season.
In the current season, the 34-year-old Kroos played 45 matches, scoring one goal and providing eight assists. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is 12 million euros.
The 2024 European Championship will take place in Germany from June 14 to July 14. Kroos has been listed in his team's squad for the tournament.
