Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos announced on his social media that he has decided to resume his career with the German national team, two years after stepping away.
Toni Kroos
I will play for Germany again from March. Why? Because I was asked by the national team coach, I’m keen to do it and I am sure that much more is possible with the team at the Euros than most people believe!
Kroos made the decision to retire from the national team in 2021 after Germany's exit from Euro 2020 in the round of 16 against England with a 0-2 score.
Earlier reports indicated that Germany's head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, had discussions with Kroos about a possible return to the national team ahead of the home European Championship.
It is worth noting that Real Madrid, where Kroos plays at the club level, plans to extend his contract for another season.
